For those with a less time to visit the Top End, our 3 Day “Ragul Run” Tour presents the bird watching highlights, heading east from Darwin, to the remarkable World Heritage Kakadu National Park. We’ll be searching this biodiversity hotspot for endemic and sought-after species such as White-lined Honeyeater, Banded Fruit-dove, Chestnut-quilled Rock-Pigeon, Black Wallaroo (Barrk) and the newly split Wilkin’s (Eastern) Rock Wallaby (Badbong). The ancient and culturally-rich landscapes of Kakadu are also home to the Partridge Pigeon (Ragul), another iconic regional species we will be targeting on our 3 day adventure.

Our four day “Djagarna Jaunt” tour explores a 1100 kilometre circuit along the Arnhem, Kakadu and Stuart Highways, in the Top End of the Northern Territory, the ‘gateway’ to biodiverse habitats across the region. We’ll explore the homes of popular target birds such as Rainbow Pitta, Hooded Parrots, Gouldian Finch, Black Bittern, Little Kingfisher and Banded Fruit-dove. There is plenty of other wildlife to see along the way too, including over five species of macropod and two crocodilians, living in and around ancient and modern Aboriginal cultural sites. ‘Djagarna’ is a traditional Aboriginal language name for the Black-necked Stork. This bird is an iconic part of the Ramsar listed wetlands covering roughly one third of Kakadu National Park and an impressive sight to see any time of the day.
