Jamie Smith-Morvell, Australian Birdwatching & Photography Guide
Jamie Smith-Morvell is an avid birder, naturalist and wildlife photographer. As a field ecologist and guide, he is dedicated to inspiring guests to develop a deeper appreciation for Australia’s diverse ecosystems and conservation efforts.
Jamie transitioned from his background in psychology and disability services to pursue his true passion for the natural world.
His journey into nature guiding began with hiking tours across Australia, including iconic locations such as the Northern Territory’s Kakadu, Nitmiluk, and Arnhem Land; Western Australia’s Kimberley; South Australia’s Flinders Ranges; as well as various sites throughout Victoria and New South Wales.
While on these treks, Jamie encouraged guests to connect with the birds and wildlife they encountered, fostering a deeper appreciation for Australia’s diverse ecosystems and inspiring conservation efforts.
Now, Jamie is living his dream of guiding high-quality and responsible wildlife and nature-focused tours. This attracted him to guide NT Bird Specialists’ guests through some of Australia’s most biodiverse regions.
Jamie aims to fully immerse guests in the beauty of Top End wildlife and to nurture a lasting dedication to conserving these invaluable habitats and species.
Personally, Jamie is an avid birder, naturalist, and wildlife photographer, always on the lookout for rare sightings and the next great shot.
When not guiding, Jamie conducts fauna surveys as a field ecologist, focusing on Victorian bird populations.
We are super pleased to welcome Jamie to the NT Bird Specialists’ Team and excited for him to seek out your amazing species encounters while sharing his passion for birds, wildlife and photography with you.
