*OR Tennant Creek to Alice Springs (Private tours/groups only)
**In 2025, this tour links to our very popular 7 Day Finch Frenzy Tour giving you the option of an incredible 9-day or 20-night extended birding holiday (including 4 nights pre & post-tour hotels) throughout the Northern Territory’s best birding sites and habitats (Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, Timber Creek, Tennant Creek and Barkly regions), finishing in outback Queensland.
Or you can book each leg individually.
Explore the best birdwatching sites in outback northern Australia and get the chance to photograph some of Australia’s rarest and remote bird species on this remote yet super comfortable (fully-accommodated) inland birdwatching expedition of a lifetime.
From 16 August 2025 our small group birdwatching adventure departs Darwin to explore the tropics to arid inland habitats of Mount Isa via the Barkly region and Tennant Creek.
Be prepared for outstanding birdwatching results while finding and photographing rare and endemic Australian bird species including:
3 Grasswrens (Dusky, Kalkadoon & Carpentarian Grasswren); Grey Falcon; Cloncurry & Hooded Parrot; Painted Finch, Zebra & Gouldian Finch; Pictorella Mannikin; 2 Bowerbirds (Great, Spotted, Western Bowerbird); Rainbow Pitta; over 10 species of grass finch; 3 Fairywren (Purple-backed, White-winged and Red-backed Fairywren) and more!
Experience excellence in specialist outback birding and bird photography services under the professional guidance of Luke Paterson, one of Australia’s most experienced birdwatching guides. Travel in our luxury 200 Series 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser or (11-18 seater) buses depending on group size.
*Private tours/groups* can choose your own birding itinerary to seek target bird species, starting in Darwin and finishing in either Mount Isa (outback Queensland) or Alice Springs (Red Centre, Northern Territory).
*Pink Cockatoo and Splendid Fairywren also on Alice Springs itineraries.
