East Kimberley Bird & Nature Photography Tour
Kununurra – Lake Argyle – Ord River – Wyndham – Kununurra, Western Australia
*From 17-21 November 2025 this tour joins our 10 Day Ultimate Top End Birding Adventure Tour (which includes the Lake Argyle Cruise and pre and post-tour accommodation, airport transfers & more)
NT Bird Specialists are super pleased to bring you our unique Kimberley bird & nature photography adventure (4 nights plus 3 full days touring and post-tour travel needs).
This tour is limited in departures where guests will be expertly guided by Luke Paterson (24 year’s experience in northern Australia) to seek and photograph specialty Kimberley bird species in gorgeous settings.
Yellow Chats at Lake Argyle, White-quilled Rock Pigeon and Purple-crowned Fairywren, plus grass finches, Budgerigar and Spinifex Pigeon in Wyndham are some of the key target bird species during the tour. Freshwater Crocodile and Kimberley Rock Monitor are scaled favourites.
To navigate the vast distances we’ll explore on foot, by private tour vehicle and 5-hour chartered boat. Astro photography and landscape photography options are excellent during favourable conditions.
*All camera brands and experience levels welcome. Non-photographing partners welcome.
We only use and support local operators in this unique photographic package. You may choose to extend your stay with pre and post accommodation and connecting tours.

• 3 days of exceptional bird & nature photography and exploration in a comprehensive travel package
• Hard to find key bird species & Kimberley specialities
• Group Size: 5-10 guests, Local specialist bird and wildlife guide Luke Paterson
• All meals, touring and accommodation, plus private transport throughout
• Private touring vehicle and trailer.
• Solo guests may choose to pair up to remove single supplement charges where available.
• Comprehensive travel insurance is recommended.
• Moderate general fitness is required. Walks over uneven surfaces with some rocky steps to lookouts and high temperatures.

**For guests wanting to go further into the Kimberley, we can book day tour flights to Mitchell Falls (subject to availability)
• Tour departs and concludes in Kununurra, Western Australia
• Flights: We recommend you arrive the day prior and leave the day after. Guests often book flights to Darwin, Perth or Broome with Qantas, Virgin or Jetstar then take the shorter Air North or Qantas flight to Kununurra. Some guests prefer to spend the night before in Darwin & fly to Kununurra the next morning.
